Welcome to Parsely! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our recipe parsing and cookbook service. By accessing or using Parsely, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, using our service, or accessing our website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Parsely is a recipe parsing and cookbook service that allows you to:

• Extract structured recipe data from web URLs
• Organize and save recipes in a personal cookbook
• Ask questions about recipes using our AI assistant
• Manage recipes through folders and search functionality

We offer different tiers of service with varying features and usage limits.

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
• You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits

Account Responsibility

• You are responsible for all activity under your account
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms

4. Acceptable Use

Permitted Uses

• Parsing recipes from publicly accessible websites
• Creating and managing personal recipe collections
• Using Ask Chef for legitimate cooking questions
• Sharing recipes with others (where permitted)

Prohibited Uses

• Parsing content that is not recipe-related
• Violating website terms of service when extracting recipes
• Circumventing rate limits or usage restrictions
• Using automated tools to access our service excessively
• Reverse engineering or attempting to access our source code
• Using the service for illegal or harmful purposes

Rate Limits

• Guest users: 2 recipe parses per 48 hours
• Free users: 20 recipe parses per 3 hours
• Pro users: 10 parses per hour, 50 per day
• Ask Chef: 20 messages per hour, 50 per day (Pro users only)

5. Content and Intellectual Property

Recipe Content

• You retain ownership of recipes you save to your cookbook
• We do not claim ownership of original recipe content
• You are responsible for ensuring you have rights to use recipe content
• Parsed recipes are for personal, non-commercial use

Service Content

• Our service, including software and AI models, is our proprietary property
• You may not copy, modify, or distribute our service without permission
• We grant you a limited, non-exclusive license to use our service

User-Generated Content

• You retain rights to content you create (folders, recipe notes)
• You grant us license to use your content to provide and improve our service
• You represent that you have rights to all content you submit

6. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

• We collect recipe URLs and content to provide our service
• We may use anonymized usage data to improve our service
• We implement security measures to protect your data
• We share data with third-party service providers as necessary

7. Paid Services

Parsely Chef Subscription

• Pro users have access to additional features and higher usage limits
• Subscription fees are charged through our payment processor
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
• We may change pricing with 30 days notice

Billing and Refunds

• Payments are processed through Stripe
• You must provide current, complete payment information
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis
• We may suspend service for non-payment

Free Trials

• We may offer free trials of paid features
• Trial periods convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled
• We may limit trial availability at our discretion

8. Disclaimers and Warranties

Service Availability

• We do not guarantee uninterrupted service availability
• We may experience downtime for maintenance or technical issues
• We are not liable for service interruptions

Recipe Accuracy

• Recipe parsing is automated and may contain errors
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of extracted recipes
• You should verify recipes before use
• We are not responsible for cooking outcomes or safety

AI Assistant Responses

• Ask Chef responses are generated by AI and may not be accurate
• AI responses should not be considered professional advice
• We are not responsible for AI-generated content
• Use AI responses at your own risk

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parsely shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Lost profits or data loss
• Damages arising from recipe inaccuracy or AI responses
• Damages from service interruptions or technical issues

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for our service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

Termination by You

• You may terminate your account at any time
• Termination will result in loss of access to your data
• You may export your data before termination
• No refunds will be provided for partial subscription periods

Termination by Us

• We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms
• We may terminate accounts for extended inactivity
• We may terminate service with 30 days notice
• We will provide access to your data upon termination

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which our service operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through arbitration in accordance with applicable rules.
